Field Service Techs
Job Description Regional Low Voltage Contractor is searching for ten (10) Road Warrior Technician(s) to work throughout the Florida and Georgia. Expect position to require a minimum of 25-50% road travel. Network Cabling Installer ( Tech I/II/III): Level I " (6 months to 2 yrs. of experience) " Familiar with all EIA/TIA standards. Capable of identifying, pulling and labeling Cat3, 5, 5e, Cat 6 and fiber optic cable. Installing support structures (J-hooks, support rings, cable slings and cable tray / ladder rack). Termination of work station outlets (110 style as well as Panduit). These techs potentially have some exposure to closet dressing, termination of closet equipment and multi-pair color code terminations. Some exposure to the “dummy” end of most test kits. Level II " (2 year to 4 years experience) " Familiar with all EIA/TIA standards. Capable of identifying, pulling and labeling Cat3, 5, 5e, Cat 6 and fiber optic cable. Installing support structures (J-hooks, support rings, cable slings and cable tray / ladder rack). Termination of work station outlets and closet equipment (110 & 66 blocks, Patch panel). These techs have some exposure fiber terminations. Experience with both ends of basic level testing as well as high level testing and documentation. Termination experience with multi-pair / strand cable (Copper and fiber). Capable of reading blue prints, identifying cable paths and some assistance with site surveys, and bidding. Capable of leading small crews of 3-7 technicians. Level III " (4 years + ) " Capable of performing all above mentioned tasks including but not limited to leading small to large crews (7-30 technicians). Experience with site surveys, bidding & estimating projects and Project Management. High level testing and documentation experience required. We are currently seeking candidates to work through out Florida and Georgia. Extensive out of town travel may be required. NOTES: 10 openings. US Residents Only Requirements Physically install UTP copper, fiber optic, and other audio and video cable and connectors. • Physically install active and passive voice, video, and data hardware. • Installation of outlets, pulling cable, fire stopping and pre-termination including organizing, forming, dressing and labeling cables to industry standards. • Terminate, assemble and install 8-pin modular connectors, coaxial connectors, light-crimp connectors, compression connectors, solder connectors and optical fiber connectors. • Accurately test copper and fiber (multimode and single mode) cables to required certification parameters utilizing appropriate test equipment as required. • Diagnose and correct copper and optical fiber problems. • Removal and demolition of abandoned cables. • References industry standards including ANSI, EIA/TIA, and local and National Electric Code. • Perform cable splices for copper and optical fiber (mechanical and fusion). • Perform work in retrofit and new construction environments and implement cut-over’s. • Effectively operate hand and power tools. • Attend training and safety meetings. Work safely at all times utilizing the necessary Personal Protection Equipment. Demonstrate safe working practices to other technicians. • Maintain consistency and quality in delivery of all projects. • Demonstrate responsibility and accountability for company assets including but not limited to vehicles, tools, and other test equipment. • Demonstrate complete understanding of assigned tasks. • Ability to read floor plans, equipment layouts, line diagrams, control diagrams, rack elevations, and other architectural, mechanical and electrical drawings. • Have a positive outlook and a strong sense of motivation and Company pride. Ability to follow established methodology and procedures. • Minimum of 0-2 years of related experience. • Be certified as a BICSI Installer I or similar training preferred. • Ability to work extended hours (overtime) as needed. • Ability to be regularly scheduled for on-call status if needed. • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors. • Position requires daily travel to worksites. • Must be able to work safely following company policy/procedures on safety. • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable with our auto insurance carrier during course of employment. • Must be able to travel out of town/state/country for work
